Kerala Tourism invites Karnataka MLAs

Thiruvananthapuram/Bengaluru: While candidates in the Karnataka Assembly elections were biting their nails over the results and the uncertainty of the formation of the government hung over the State, Kerala Tourism displayed an invitation on Twitter for the newly-elected legislators to relax and unwind at the resorts in Kerala. The tweet read as follows: “After the rough and tumble of the #KarnatakaVerdict, we invite all the MLAs to unwind at the safe and beautiful resorts of God’s Own Country. #ComeOutAndPlay.”
The tweet came from the official handle of Kerala Tourism, just when the decision of a coalition involving the Congress and the JD(S) was announced. The irony and the timing could not have been better and the tweet ended up garnering a row of humorous responses and numerous likes. It was retweeted 5872 times and got over 9750 likes in just a couple of hours. Union Minister of State for Tourism K.J. Alphons and State Minister Kadakampally Surendran also joined the train of likes and comments.
The Kerala Government later developed second thoughts about the tweet and it was removed at around 9 pm.
