Bengaluru: A three-year-old boy who had been abducted by a 22-year-old vegetable vendor has been reunited with his biological parents after three of them were subjected to DNA test, which confirmed their relationship.
Meanwhile, the vegetable vendor has been arrested on charges of kidnapping the boy in November 2020 and selling him to an agriculturist for Rs 60,000.
The accused is Kartik Kumar, a resident of RPC Layout in Vijayanagar, he was arrested in early 2020 for stealing a bike from Vijayanagar.
According to police, the boy was kidnapped from outside his house in Shamanna Garden, Byatarayanapura, on the afternoon of November 2020.
“Kumar had taken the boy to a childless agriculturist couple living in Yamare village, Sarjapur, saying he was his fourth child and he was finding it difficult to look after four children. Trusting him, the couple had agreed to adopt the child. Saying he would arrange for the adoption papers, Kumar had taken Rs 60,000 from the couple. However, he never visited them thereafter,” an officer said.
Cops traced the boy to Yamare and told the couple about the kidnapping case.
“They were shocked on hearing that the boy was not Kumar’s child but was abducted from Byatarayanapura. They agreed to return the kid and sought action against Kumar,” police said.
