Kidiyoor Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava: Spectacular Gangarati mesmerises devotees

Udupi: A spectacular mass Gangarati by priests from Varanasi mesmerized the devotees during the Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava celebration on Monday night in front of Kidiyoor Hotel. E
Nine priests lit Aarti on special podiums, resembling the banks of the Ganga, after offering special incense to Nagadev. The atmosphere was filled with the enchanting sounds of ‘Chendevadya,’ ‘Panchadya,’ and Kombu Trumpet.
Distinguished personalities, including Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Sripada of Sri Palimaru Matha, Dr. G Shankar, and former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj, graced the occasion. Various community members, temple priests, and local leaders also participated.
Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, Sevakarta, shared that holy Ganges water from Varanasi and sacred threads would be distributed to devotees.
The celebration featured performances by renowned artists, such as district Rajyotsava award-winning nagaswara player Mr. Udaya Bogra and a 40-member Chendevaadana team from Kerala. Yuvraj Muscat, the general secretary of the organizing committee, highlighted the participation of groups from Kannur, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, showcasing the cultural diversity.
The festivities continue today with Ashtottar Shatakalashabhishekam, Brahmakumbhabhishekam, darshan service, and a grand food offering at Sri Nagasannidhi. The cultural program includes veena performances, saxophone playing, and Bhakti Rasayana, providing a rich cultural experience.
The Ashtapavitra Nagamandalotsava promises to be a highlight fostering unity and cultural appreciation in Udupi.
