Kidnapping and rape of minor girl; five arrested

Puttur: Five persons were arrested by Uppinangady police in connection to the kidnapping and rape of a minor girl. The arrest was made on July 23^rd based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father on July 17^th.

The arrested are identified as Chandraksha (25) from Ilantila village, Sandeep Kumar(23) from Uruvalu village, Harshendra(24) from Kaniyoor village, Lava Kumar(27), from Nalodi Kaniyoor village and Lakshmisha(24) from Shishila village.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that Chandraksha, Sandeep, Harshendra, Lava Kumar, Lakshmisha and another suspect Mithun had given the telephone number of the girl to each other. They individually contacted the girl on different occasions and raped her at different locations and there was no gang rape.

The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
