Hubballi: As many as 15 MBBS students of Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) were suspended for creating and posting insulting nursing officers on social media. The incident has caused uproar among nursing officers, leading to a protest outside the administration office of KIMS.
The derogatory reels, featuring MBBS students enacting a scene from a film song, took a disrespectful tone towards nursing officers and quickly gained viral traction on Instagram.
Nursing officers, feeling insulted by the content, expressed their anger through a protest, demanding that appropriate measures be taken against the responsible students.
Responding to the outcry, the Director of KIMS has suspended the 15 MBBS students from their classes. Furthermore, a seven-member committee has been formed, headed by Ishwar Hosamani, the principal of the college, to thoroughly investigate the matter.
The committee has been given until August 11 to submit its findings and recommendations.
Meanwhile, the MBBS students involved issued an apology via a video, clarifying that the reels were created for entertainment purposes and expressing remorse for their insensitive portrayal of nursing officers.
