KMC to host National Conference on TB

Manipal: Department of Microbiology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in association with District TB Centre Udupi will organize a National Tuberculosis Conference with the theme “Towards TB Elimination: Vision of the Nation” on October 6th, 2018 at the TMA Pai Hall, Kasturba Medical College here.
On Friday, there will be a hands-on Pre-Conference Workshop for various diagnostic techniques for the diagnosis of tuberculosis. The conference will have experts in the field of tuberculosis, both from private and public sectors, to share their knowledge and experience with the delegates.
According to the organizing secretary, Dr Kiran Chawla,the workshop will cover recent updates in epidemiology, clinical perspectives and diagnostics in both adult and paediatric tuberculosis. “The event will witness ablend of researchers, physicians, public health personnel and microbiologists discussing and sharing their experiences in an effort to get aligned with the National Goal of Eliminating Tuberculosis by 2025 which is much ahead of the global deadlines. It is therefore, necessary that the various stakeholders from public and private sectors work together for the benefit of community and fight to make TB a history,”
About 150 delegates from a number of states will participate. Dr Kuldeep Singh Sachdeva, Deputy Director General – Central TB Division from Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India will be the chief guest at the inauguration on October 6, 2018. Dr HS Ballal, Pro Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education will preside over the function. Dr. Poornima Baliga B, Pro-Vice Chancellor, MAHE and Dr Pragna Rao, Dean, KMC, Manipal will be present
