Kodagu: 8-yo dies in tiger attack; 3rd attack in 16 days

Madikeri: An eight-year-old boy was killed after being attacked by a tiger in the southern part of the Kodagu district.

The attack occurred at Beluru village in Ponnampet taluk of the district.

Plantation worker Kencha (52) was seriously injured while his grandson Rangaswamy (8) died on the spot.

Rangaswamy was taken to a Mysuru hospital after first aid.

In the past 16 days, three people and twelve cows were killed in tiger attacks.

Villagers and various organizations and have expressed outrage against forest department officials and even protested by blocking their vehicles.

The chief forest conservation officer has now ordered the forest department to capture the tiger or shot it as a last resort.
