Kodagu: Hockey player dies of suspected heart attack during game

Madikeri: In a tragic incident, a 23-year-old hockey player died of a suspected heart attack while palying a game of hockey in the Chowrira Hockey Championship being held at Lalu Muddaiah Grounds in Murnad here on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Thottiyanda Somanna.

The tournament is witnessing the participation of around 90 Kodava families. On Saturday afternoon, the game was being played between Battira Family and Thottiyanda family when Thottiyanda Somanna collapsed and fell to the ground.

He was administered with first aid and taken to Madikeri hospital. However, he died on the way to the hospital.
