Kodagu receives heavy downpour in last 24 hours, public life disrupted

Madikeri: Heavy rains in the Kodagu district from Sunday night continued even on the morning of Monday, August 29 leading to disruption of normal life.
Record downpour of 9.30-inches was observed at the Galibeedu and Vanachalu villages of Madikeri.
Bhagamandala area recorded around 8.30-inches of rainfall, leading to waterlogging. Flood-like situation was reported in Chembu and other parts of the district on Monday morning.
Incessant rainfall in the district for the past 24 hours has damaged several homes, bridges, and roads. Coffee, pepper, and other plantation crops were damaged.
Incidents of landslides and the uprooting of trees have caused disruption in vehicular movements.
Reportedly, from January 2022 to date, the district has received 227.77-inches of rainfall.
