Kodagu’s Commander selected for staff course in prestigious Naval War College in US

Madikeri: Muckatira Lieutenant Commander Suraj Aiyappa has been selected as the representative of India in the prestigious Naval War College,Rhode Island, USA.

Suraj hailing from Kodagu completed his schooling from the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun

Suraj is a resident of Arvathoklu, Gonikoppa and is the son of retired Lt Col. M.A. Kariyappa and Saraswathi Kariyappa.  Suraj is married to Dr. Yamuna, a dentist and daughter of Maneyapanda Manu Mandanna and Kamu.

He was awarded the Sword of Honour and the Chief of Naval Staff Gold Medal. During his tenure, Suraj held several positions including Commanding Officer of a Fast Attack Craft and the Instructor of the Naval Academy.

He was honored with the ‘Guard of Honor’ by the President during the International Fleet Review held at Visakhapatnam in 2016.

He is one of the 52 officials in the staff training in the US this year.
