Konaje: Police nab 3 sandalwood smugglers; 41.1 kg sandalwood seized

Konaje: Police officials have apprehended a gang involved in sandalwood smuggling on Mangaluru University premises in Konaje and seized 41.1kg sandalwood worth Rs 25,000.
The theft happened on January 4, 2022 and a case was registered in Konaje police statio.
The arrested accused have been identified as Majeed alias Nawaz, a resident of KC Nagar, Shareef alias Duniya Shareef, a resident of Bantwal and Laxman Shetty, a resident of Vorkady.
Also, several cases of Sandalwood theft on Mangaluru University premises were reported in the year 2020-21.
Police officials have arrested Hasainar, a resident of KC Nagar in connection with the case. The accused Majeed alias Nawaz is also said to be involved in serial sandalwood thefts.
A case has been registered.
