Udupi: The filming of the new Konkani movie Antyarambha has been completed, according to director Dr. K. Ramesh Kamath.
A Pune Film Institute graduate and recipient of the Konkani Sahitya Academy Award, Dr. Kamath wrote the story, screenplay, lyrics, and directed the film. The editing process is also done, and only re-recording work is pending. The movie is expected to release in the first week of November.
Produced under the Aditya Cine Creations banner by Kiranmayi Kamath, Antyarambha is one of the few films made in the Konkani and Saraswat Konkani languages. So far, only eight Konkani films have been produced, three of which were directed by Dr. Ramesh Kamath himself. At the age of 72, his passion for the language has led him to direct his fourth Konkani movie.
Unlike a typical commercial entertainer, Antyarambha is an artistic, philosophical film. It explores the idea that life’s struggles do not mark the end, but rather pave the way for new beginnings.
Dr. Kamath plays the role of an elderly man in the film, with Damodar Nayak as the young male lead, Pratiksha Kamath as the young female lead, and actors like Vitoba Bhandarkar, Konkani Academy president Stany Alvares, magician Uday Jadugar, and Sheila Nayak playing key roles. The technical team includes cinematographer PVR Swamy, editor Nagesh, and music director Suresh. The songs are sung by Shankar Shanubhog, and dialogues are penned by Sha Mam Krishnaraya
