Koppa: Two children die after falling into well while playing

PTI, Dec 11, 2024, 10:26 AM IST

In a tragic incident, two children lost their lives after falling into a well in Ammadi Estate, Koppa Taluk, Chikkamagaluru district.

The deceased have been identified as Seema (6) and Radhika (2), daughters of Sunita, a laborer from Madhya Pradesh working in the local coffee estate.

On Tuesday (December 11), Sunita had left her children at home while she went to work in the coffee plantation. Upon returning, she found the children missing.

Panicked, she informed fellow workers, who began searching the area. Tragically, the children’s bodies were found in a nearby well.

Preliminary investigations suggest the children may have wandered near the well while playing and accidentally fallen in. The water level in the well was only about 3–4 feet deep, making it easily accessible.

A case has been registered at the Koppa Police Station, and further investigations are underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
