Koppal: The temporary installation of a new gate to replace the damaged 19th crest gate at the Tungabhadra Reservoir began on Thursday. Experts are working with cranes to install the new gate, which started in the afternoon and continued till evening.

However, due to slight differences in measurements between the new gate and the broken crest gate, the operation was halted in the evening as a precaution. The team has decided to resume the work on Friday.

Meanwhile, Vijayanagara district in-charge minister, Zameer Ahmed Khan, visited the site on Thursday and interacted with the workers, assuring them of their safety. He promised to personally give Rs 50,000 to each worker, encouraging them to carry on with the work confidently.
