Koratagere: The Kengeri police have apprehended an accused on accusations of defrauding innocent people of crores of rupees.

Mohammad Zubair from Koratagere is accused of luring victims with promises of double-site investments in smart cities, medical seats in private colleges, high-ranking jobs in small industries, and the sale of houses/sites.

Zubair, a resident of the 15th Ward in Koratagere town, and his wife, Ruhi Juwari, are now in police custody. They face allegations involving multi-crore fraud, counterfeit documents bearing the signatures and seals of the Governor and the Reserve Bank, and 15 registered cases.

A team led by Kengeri PSI Murali and Koratagere police conducted searches at Zubair’s house and his brick factory office and discovered forged documents, including letters with fake seals and signatures of several banks.

Case Takes a New Turn

The case took a new turn following a complaint by Saidha Tabassum, a resident of Kengeri, who accused Zubair of swindling her out of Rs 1.15 crore in cash and 184 grams of gold over the past four years. Following her complaint, 13 cases were registered at the Kengeri station, along with one case each at the Rajarajeshwari and Shira city police stations, bringing the total to 15 cases against Zubair.

Based on Saidha Tabassum’s complaint Zubair and his wife, Ruhi, have been detained by Kengeri police. PSI Mohan Muruli’s team is conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.

Misuse of Home Minister’s Photo

Zubair, exploiting his position as the president of a minority unit in Koratagere, allegedly used an old photo with Dr. G. Parameshwara to deceive people by promising government jobs. He also ventured into the brick factory and real estate businesses in Koratagere, misusing the Home Minister’s name to gain trust.

Victim Seeks Justice

“I was lured by promises of loan waivers by Mohammad Zubair, who took Rs 1.15 crore in cash and 184 grams of gold from me, providing fake documents and false assurances for four years. When I demanded my money back, he threatened me. I have registered a complaint with the Kengeri police, and I trust that justice will be served,” said Saidha Tabassum.
