Kortagere: Bike thief has close shave with death while crossing flooded bridge

A thief had a close shave with death while crossing the flooded Gundanapalya bridge in a bid to escape with a stolen two-wheeler here in Kortagere taluk.

On Saturday evening, the thief stole a bike parked near Naveen Comforts located on the bypass road here. While escaping with the bike he had to cross the flooded Gundanapalya bridge. He threw caution to the air and attempted to cross the bridge but got swept away along with the bike in the water current.

Passersby recorded a video of the bike being swept away while the thief tries to save his life by clinging to a tree branch. The video has gone viral on social media.

Fire brigade personnel were informed of the incident and they reached the spot. A search was launched for the youth and the vehicle. Meanwhile unknown to them, the thief had managed to swim to safety.
