Kota double murder case: Accused arrested?

Udupi: There is information circulating around claiming that three persons have been arrested on the charges of murdering two young men from Chikkanakere, Manur near Kota in the taluk on January 26. However, the police have denied this information.

On Jan 26th, two young men identified as Yatish Kanchan and Bharat Poojary, were savagely murdered over a silly reason. A case was filed in connection to this at Kota police station in which Rajashekhar Reddy, Chandrashekhar Reddy, and four others were named as accused. Since the police had failed to arrest the accused, a voluntary Kota bandh had been organised on February 3 under the aegis of different organizations condemning the failure if the police. MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary had said that he would personally meet the chief minister and pursue the case through him, if the main accused persons are not arrested by February 6th.

According to the information making rounds, it claims that the police have conducted detailed search and succeeded in arresting three of the accused from Sira near Tumakuru. It is being said that the police fear that the leak of information regarding the arrest may jeopardize the investigation and hence they are denying the arrest.

However, the district superintendent of police called it an unsubstantiated rumour and denied having arrested any persons relating to the above case.
