Udupi: The family of one of the victims of Kota double murder case has accused that a local politician from Kundapura had pressured the police on behalf of the accused to not arrest the accused.

Bharath and his friend Yatish were murdered on the night of January 26, 2019, at Bharath’s home.

Speaking in the press club at Udupi on Monday, February 3, deceased Bharath’s brother, Hemanth, said that then Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi had arrested all the accused immediately but a few of them procured bail from the court. Their mother Parvathi approached the Supreme Court and successfully cancelled the bail to one of the accused who is a zilla panchayat member.

Hemanth further said that they will be filing a contempt case through their lawyers against the police in the Supreme Court for not rearresting the accused even after providing all the necessary documents to the Superintendent. He also added that his mother Parvathi will be observing a fast unto death from February 7 in front of the Superintendent’s office until the accused are rearrested.
