Kota: Notorious thieves arrested for house theft, goods worth Rs 19 lakhs seized

Kota: Police arrested two accused in the theft at a house in Pandeshwar Village here in September 2022.
The accused have been identified as Rajesh Devadiga (38) of Kapu and Mohammed Riyaz Hosmar alias Riyaz (39) of Karkala.
A case has been registered at the Kota police station regarding a theft at the house of Bengaluru-based hotelier Rajesh Poojary’s home in Pandeshwar Village in September last year. The thieves who had gained entry into the house at night decamped with gold jewellery from the house.
Based on a piece of credible information, Kota police flagged down a Ford Mondeo car in which the accused were travelling in near Saiberakatte on January 22. Gold jewellery without proper documentation was found in the car. On further interrogation, the duo confessed that the jewellery was stolen from Poojary’s house in September and they were on their way to Shivamogga to sell it.
OF the two accused, Rajesh was a notorious thief who had served prison time and has several theft cases pending against him, whereas Riyaz is accused in the sensational robbery at Rajadhani Jewellers in Manjeshwar Kasaragod and also murder and extortion cases. These two accused got to know each other while they were in Hiriadka Jail and were conspiring to carry out house thefts by identifying locked houses in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, police said.
About Rs 15 lakhs of stolen gold jewelery, a Ford Mondeo car worth aboutRs 2.5 lakhs that was purchased with the proceeds form the stolen goods, a Hero Destiny motorbike worth about Rs1 lakh and a Honda Activa motorcycle worth about Rs 50,000 which was used in the crime were recovered from the accused police said and added that the total value of the assets seized is estimated to be Rs 19 lakhs.
