Kote Shivananda chosen for Kalinga Navada Award

Bengaluru: Kote Shivananda has been selected for the prestigious Kalinga Navada Award, presented annually by the Kala Kadamba Art Center in memory of the renowned singer Kalinga Navada, known for his golden voice in Bhagavata tradition.

Shivananda, who has mastered the art of playing the chende, a powerful drum in Yakshagana performances, has been practicing for over 46 years. The award will be conferred on him during a ceremony scheduled for October 27 in Chamarajpet.

The award includes a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a silver plate, a certificate of appreciation, and a memento, as announced by Dr. Radhakrishna Ural, Director of Kala Kadamba Art Center.
