Chitradurga: The controversy over the sudden delay in the release of Kichcha Sudeep-starrer ‘Kotigobba-3’ has now reached the doors of police. Distributor Khazapeer lodged a complaint in Chitradurga against the film’s producer Soorappa Babu (M.B. Babu).
The release of ‘Kotigobba 3’, which was scheduled to release on October 14, was suddenly disrupted. This resulted in a huge loss to the film.
In a video, producer Soorappa Babu had blamed some distributors for cheating him. He had also filed a defamation suit against the individuals involved and said he would wage a legal battle. But now, Khazapeer, a distributor from Chitradurga, has filed a counter-complaint against Soorappa Babu for allegedly issuing death threats.
According to sources, an agreement was reached between the filmmakers and distributors and Khazapeer had deposited Rs. 60 lakhs with Ram Babu productions. After the fiasco, when Khazapeer asked for the money to be returned, Soorappa Babu allegedly issued death threats and abused him verbally.
Distributor Khazapeer has now filed a complaint at the Chitradurga Town Police Station. A case has been registered under section 506, 504 of the IPC, sources added.
