KRRS protests against police firing in Tamil Nadu

Mandya: Members of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) blocked the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway on Thursday, protesting against the killing of agitators who were demanding the closure of the Sterlite Copper Unit in Tamil Nadu. KRRS President in Mandya district unit, Shambhunahalli Suresh, led the protest and criticised the police firing on the protestors against the Copper Unit in Thoothukudi district.

The protestors raised slogans against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his government. Suresh alleged that the T.N. government had murdered people who were taking a peaceful protest and this action only exposed the “anti-people” stances of the government. He demanded that the Tamil Nadu government close the Sterlite Copper Unit and take strict action against the officials involved in the police firing.
