Mandya: Following good rainfall activities in River Cauvery basin, Bengaluru and Kodagu districts, water level at Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) reservoir has recorded a steep uptick and reached 99.20 feet against its maximum storage level of 124.80 with an inflow of 12365 cusec against an outflow of 8059 cusec as on September 02, 2017.
Problem of drinking water shortage is expected to vanish in Mandya and neighboring districts following recent rainfall activities. Steep rise in monsoon showers in August contributed for an uptick in the level of water and the same trend is expected to continue in September also, according to the weather forecasts.
Meanwhile, water level in River Krishna has moved up following good rainfall activities in Maharashtra. Around 45, 000 cusec water has been released from Basava Sagara Dam through 6 gates in this rainy season.
