KSEEB issues guidelines for 2021-22 SSLC exam; No MCQ based question paper

Bengaluru: Education department has decided to cancel the objective type multiple-choice question (MCQ) paper adopted for the SSLC examination in the wake of the Covid pandemic last year. The department had decided to revert to its earlier system of descriptive examination.

Guidelines have been issued for the SSLC examination to be held in March-April 2022 and the multiple-choice question paper model has been withdrawn.

Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) director V Sumangala said that the fully MCQ-based question papers for SSLC exams were a temporary measure based on experts’ opinions last year. Since physical classes are being held this year, students will have to write descriptive answers as before, she added.

She said that as per the new rules, the first language papers carry 125 marks and 100 marks in the remaining subjects. In subjects having 100 marks, 80 marks will be decided by the year-end theory test and 20 marks will be decided by the internal evaluation.  For the first language paper, the marks split will be 100 for the year-end test and the remaining decided by the internal assessment.

Attendance exemption canceled:

Moreover, the student should have at least 75% attendance to be eligible to write the SSLC exam this time around. Last year students who had attendance shortages were allowed to take the examination as a one-time measure, she said.
