Mangaluru: The Charmadi Ghat stretch of Mangaluru-Villupuramon national highway 73 has been opened for KSRTC minibuses during the day time.

An order to this effect was issued by Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner Bagadi Gautam on December 26 after conducting a trial run on the stretch.

Restriction on vehicular traffic had been imposed owing to the severe damage caused by the heavy rains in August this year.

Observing that several students from Chikkamagaluru district commute to Dakshina Kannada district for educational purpose, minibuses will be allowed to travel on the stretch between Kottigehara and Ujire Cross.

The order clearly states that ordinary passenger buses, heavy buses, trucks, bullet tankers and heavy commercial vehicles and multi-axle buses cannot commute on the stretch.
