Bengaluru:  Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has decided to operate buses on a new route between Bengaluru and Uhagamandalam (Ooty) to reduce travel time.

Shivayogi C Kalasad, KSRTC managing director on Saturday, January 12  informed that KSRTC has decided to operate buses on a new route to reduce travel time. The buses are currently operating services between Bengaluru and Ooty via Mysuru and Bandipur, which takes about eight hours during the day and seven hours at night.

There is a huge demand for overnight buses between Ooty and Bengaluru but KSRTC is unable to operate additional services during the night due to the night- traffic ban at Bandipur forest. Therefore it has been decided to operate buses via Mettupalayam and Sathyamangalam, a route which has better roads and takes only seven hours during day time and 6.5 hours at night, informed KSRTC official.
