Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to introduce 20 new and improved Airavata Club Class 2.0 buses by the end of this month, with a strong focus on passenger safety. These buses come equipped with advanced fire alarm and protection systems, ensuring enhanced safety during emergencies.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, accompanied by KSRTC Chairman S.R. Srinivas, visited the Volvo bus manufacturing unit near Hosakote on Monday. The minister inspected the new buses at the facility.

The 2.0 model buses are 3.5% longer and 5.6% taller than the current Volvo buses. Additionally, the luggage capacity has been increased by 20%, making it the first bus to offer such a large luggage space, the minister said.

Inside the bus, water pipes are installed on both sides of the passenger seats. In the event of a fire, water will be sprayed through 30 nozzles to quickly extinguish flames, ensuring passenger safety, explained the officials.
