Mysuru: The KSRTC has been instructed by the district administration to not withdraw its buses on May 12, so that people from far off, remote rural areas can reach the polling stations. The last time, there was no bus facility from the KSRTC, cutting off ties of transport with the rural areas. In order to avoid it this time, the administration has hired hundreds of KSRTC buses to facilitate transportation during the election.

Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat, Shivashankar said that the KSRTC has been asked to use its spare buses for inter-district travel and clearly ordered not to withdraw any of its buses.

Divisional Controller of KSRTC for the Mysuru division, M. Ravi informed that buses to and from urban destinations like Mysuru and Bengaluru will be withdrawn since it would not be pose much problems in that belt. They would provide almost 170 buses for connecting the rural areas during the polls, apart from the buses withdrawn from the urban areas.

Mr. Shivashankar also added that the administration was making sure that no party or candidate used the buses for their political victory or attempt to influence the voters on the day of the election.
