Bengaluru: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will have its old, out of use buses into mobile toilets for women.
A Pune-based private entity has been roped in to convert the buses.
These buses will be put out around bus stands and other public places.
Each bus will have six toilets: three with Indian-style commodes and three with Western-style commodes.
Such an initiative is already in practice at Pune where the city’s corporation and its municipal transport along with the private entity converted six old buses into mobile washrooms for women.
The buses were supposed to be inaugurated on International Women’s Day on March 8 however due to conversion work not finishing on time, the buses will be handed over to KSRTC before the end of March.
These toilets will be branded as ‘Stree Toilets.’
