K’taka becomes 1st in country to jab more than 1 lakh with second dose

Bengaluru: Karnataka has become the first State in the country to vaccinate more than 1.13 lakhs people with the second dose of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine.

However, of the more than 8.21 lakhs registered for the first dose of the vaccine, only 4,24,491 have got themselves jabbed.

It was reported that many could not turn up for the inoculation due to glitches in the CoWin web portal.

The State has till now recorded 20 serious Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) cases.

Most of the beneficiaries who have turned out for the second dose of the COVID-19 jab were in the Tumakuru (10,898), Bengaluru Urban (10,777) and Belagavi (10,036) districts.

Mysuru and Uttara Kannada districts reported 5,555 and 5,041 second dose vaccinations.

Chikkaballapura (79%), Tumakuru (78%) and Uttara Kannada (73%) districts have had more than 70 per cent of the registered beneficiaries vaccinated to date.
