K’taka Budget 2023: Seafood park to come up at Bynduru

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced setting up of a seafood park at Bynduru, Udupi under PPP model to encourage fishing activity during his Budget speech here today (February 17).
Bommai said that a special ‘Matsya Siri’ scheme, to help fishermen in deep sea fishing activities will be implemented in the state for the first time in coordination with the Central Government’s Matsya Sampada scheme.
A sum of Rs 40 crore has been earmarked in the present year for the conversion of kerosene boats into petrol boats. The kerosene subsidy is to be continued for the next two years, until all boats are converted.
Kerosene subsidy process to be simplified. Subsidy to be directly transferred to bank accounts fishermen under DBT from this fiscal year.
Speaking on the lumpy skin disease Bommai said that the government has vaccinated more than one crore cattle and Rs 55 crore has been sanctioned to compensate the owners of cattle that died of the disease.
Artificial reefs to be constructed in coastal districts under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana for improving the livelihood of traditional fishermen.
10,000 houses to be built for providing shelters to fishermen.
