K’taka CM likely to hike excise duty on liquor in the 2021-22 budget

Bengaluru: The State government is likely to hike excise duty on liquor in the forthcoming Budget. It is said that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa may announce increase in the Additional Excise Duty (AED) on liquor due to the pressure from Manufacturers and traders
According to TOI, retail traders are asking the government to increase their sales commission from 10% to 20% on MRP. If done, then liquor will get costlier, especially, prices of premium brands may go up by Rs 500-Rs 1,000 per bottle.
