K’taka considering single admission test for technical and prof grad courses

Bengaluru: The State government is considering to set a single admission test and counselling system for undergraduate and postgraduate technical and professional courses offered by higher education institutes in the State.

Presently, the State government conducts the Common Entrance Test (CET) and private institutions under the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) conducts its own admission test.

The Entrance Test Supervisory Committee of the Karnataka Examinations Authority has made the recommendation for the single admission test.

Based on the recommendation the Higher Education Department has written to all higher educational institutions in the State to submit their opinions and statements in this regard to the President of the Committee soon.
