K’taka DWCD orders reopening of anganwadis

Bengaluru: In a circular, the State’s Department of Women and Child Welfare has instructed all district administrations to reopen anganwadis.

Addressed to all district deputy directors of the department, the circular has 16-point SoPs for the conduct of the anganwadis including mandatory consent of parents, only children between the ages of 3-6 years to be allowed and anganwadi activities to be conducted from 9:30 am to 12 pm.

The circular adds that only 5 children should be allowed at once and a schedule should be made accordingly for all children attending an anganwadi.

Only those staff with negative COVID-19 report must be allowed to conduct activities and wearing of masks and maintaining physical distancing is mandatory, the circular reads.
