K’taka election comm seeks Rs 250 cr for holding GP polls amidst COVID-19

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Election Commission has sought Rs 250 crore to conduct the two-phased gram panchayat elections in the State.

The election will be held on December 22 and 27 for more than 5,000 gram panchayats which could see up to three crore total voter turnout.

The amount has been estimated taking into the account the additional expenses for thermal scanners, sanitizers and other safety measures required as per the COVID-19 guidelines.
