Bengaluru: Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah on Monday, November 2 questioned Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa that Is he scared to even ask for rightful compensation from the central government for Karnataka floods.
In a series of tweets, Siddaramaiah wrote, “State govt had estimated loss due to 2019 floods at 35,000 Cr but Central govt gave only Rs. 1,869 Cr. This year, the State govt has only requested Rs. 4,000 Cr. Is CM of Karnataka scared to even ask for rightful compensation?”
“Govt is set to raise a loan of Rs. 90,000 Cr to pay compensation for farmers and to address the pandemic. They claim that coffers are empty. Then what happened to all the money? Did it end up in the CM of Karnataka’s and Ministers’ pocket?,” he further questioned.
“Heavy rainfall for 3 months since August has severely impacted 130 taluks in 23 districts. 10 lakh hectares were destroyed last year & this year it is more than 11 lakh hectares of crops. Farmers have completely lost hope,” said Siddu
