Shivamogga: Days after the murder of Bajrang Dal worker Harsha, the state government on Thursday, March 3 announced a compensation of Rs 25 lac to his family.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj K S Eshwarappa informed that the decision was conveyed to him by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over the phone. The compensation cheque would be handed over to Harsha’s family on March 6 when he and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will visit their house, he added.
A sum of over Rs 60 lakh was collected to provide financial support to his family through an online campaign.
The 28-year-old Harsha was stabbed to death on February 20 night here leading to clamping of prohibitory order even as the city witnessed arson, violence and stone-pelting.
The government has said that it was more than a murder and the miscreants wanted to give a ‘message with the murder’. CM Bommai said that the probe agencies will go to the roots and find out the ‘invisible’ hands behind murder.
The police have arrested 10 persons so far.
