Bengaluru: Karnataka government has given in-principle approval to the Union government’s proposal for implementing “One Nation, One Uniform” for police officials across the country.

Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has reportedly agreed to the proposal forwarded by the Union Home Ministry.

The idea was mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a speech recently where he said that the country’s police system should have a single style of uniform. In this context, the Union Home Ministry had sent a proposal to the states.

What will the new uniform look like?

If this proposal is passed, police will have to wear a khaki uniform, khaki cap, black shoes, and black belt with police insignia. Women policemen are allowed to wear khaki sarees while pregnant. Traffic police will have to wear a white shirt and khaki pants and a white cap.
