Mangaluru: The Karnataka government on Thursday sanctioned a grant of Rs 1 crore for organising Kambalas in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.
The grants will be equally divided between the two districts (Rs 50 lakhs each) for holding 10 Kambalas each in both the districts.
Deputy Commissioners of the districts have been instructed to identify the Kambalas for which the grant can be utilised.
The grant will be provided through the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation and with certain conditions such as the Kambalas must be held in places that will attract the maximum audience, only organised teams must be participating in the Kambalas and no Kambala team should have more than one team member from the same family.
