K’taka govt launches ‘Sakshama’ Covid helpline for specially-abled

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and State Covid task force head Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana on Monday launched the dedicated Covid helpline set up for the specially-abled by ‘Sakshama’ organization.

The organization which is working for the welfare of the specially-abled has set up the Helpline 0120-690-4999 and is available in Kannada, Hindi, English, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil languages.

C N Ashwath Narayana said all the specially-abled are eligible to have BPL cards.  He also called on organizations to join hands with the government in effectively implementing the various welfare programs.

He further said, they should make of the opportunities provided through reservation in employment and 4 per cent budget allocation earmarked for their welfare purposes.
