Bengaluru: In a notification, the Karnataka State Election Commission has stated that elections will not be held in twenty-seven gram panchayats as these have either been fully or partially merged to form local bodies.

Additionally, election to the Hosadu gram panchayat in Kundapura taluk will also not be held as a case is being heard by the Mysuru divisional commissioner regarding the inclusion of Senapura village within the panchayat’s limits.

Elections to the State’s 5,735 gram panchayats (earlier 5,762) will be held in two phases on December 22 and 27.
