K’taka Gram Panchayat election: Decision to be taken after the first week of October

The Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) have informed the High Court that the decision of conducting the Gram Panchayat Elections in the state will be taken in the first week of October
Earlier, Member of legislative council K C Kondayya and others had filed a public interest petition regarding the Gram Panchayat Election in Karnataka.
In this regard, Adv K Faneendra gave a written statement on behalf of the state election commission. The statement said that the process of increasing the reservation term to 10 years and other procedures will be completed within July 25.
Earlier, the officials were directed to finalise the voter list in the month of April but the work was halted due to the lockdown. Now, the officials will finalise the voter list in the month of September.
Also, a video conference was held with all 30 district officials of the state on June 24 to review the feasibility of holding an election. The High Court adjourned the case till July 29.
