The Karnataka High Court has issued a stay on the FIR filed against Anil Lobo, the Chairman of MCC Bank, in connection with a case of abetment to suicide.
On December 17, Manoj Pereira, a resident of Ulaibettu committed suicide after recording a video blaming Lobo for his death.
Following the incident, a case was filed at the Mangaluru Rural Police Station, and Anil Lobo was arrested. However, when he applied for bail in the district court, his request was rejected.
Subsequently, Lobo filed a petition in the High Court, seeking the quashing of the case. After reviewing the petition, the court found no conclusive evidence of abetment to suicide under Section 108 of the BNS. As a result, the court has granted a stay on the FIR.
