Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Wednesday warned of taking stern action against those police personnel who are found to be involved in corrupt practices or are aiding the criminals.
His remarks come in the backdrop of arrests of two policemen, deputed for the security of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s private residence for allegedly trying to extort money from drug peddlers.
Speaking to reporters, Araga said, “Police officers are responsible for maintaining law & order in the society and working for people’s protection. However the corrupt acts of a few police officers is tarninshing the image of other honest cops. The general public too view entire police force suspiciously because of such corrupt officers”
“Stern action will not just be limited to suspending such officers but they maybe dismissed from service too,” he added.
Further he lauded the police officials who arrested the cops for demanding money from drug peddlers to let them go free and ordered that they be rewarded.
