Mangaluru: In a survey conducted by the officials from the States of Karnataka and Kerala it was found that certain portions of land administered by Karnataka belonged to Kerala.
Talapady gram panchayat in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district had complained after a checkpost of Kerala’s police and health department was set up in the panchayat’s limits.
As confusion prevailed on the jurisdiction of the checkpost, district administrations of both the State’s bordering districts – Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod – dispatched officials to survey and settle the boundary.
Surveyors spent the entire day of Thursday, April 23 surveying the land and marking the boundaries.
After the final settlement, more than half the land on which a refuelling station exists, which for decades was thought to be in Karnataka having sold fuel as per Karnataka rates, obtained the license and paid taxes to Karnataka was handed over to Kerala as it was actually part of it.
