Bengaluru: Amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in Karnataka, the state government on Saturday decided to impose a lockdown on all Sundays across the state starting July 5.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to discuss the coronavirus situation.

On Sundays, no vehicles will be allowed on the road, except for essential services.

Also, it has been decided to change the night curfew hours from 8pm to 5am with effect from Monday. Till now the night curfew was applicable from 9pm to 5am.

Government offices will now function for five days a week starting July 10.

To improve hospital bed availability for COVID-19 treatment, it was decided in the meeting to allocate bed through a Centralized Bed Allocation System. In Bengaluru, 250 ambulances will be made available for moving COVID-19 patients.
