Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister of Karnataka, H.D. Kumaraswamy, has announced his candidacy for the upcoming state assembly elections. He will contest from Channapatna constituency and will file his nomination on April 10, while his son Nikhil will file his nomination from neighbouring Ramanagara on April 17.
Currently, Channapatna is represented by H.D. Kumaraswamy, who is also the former Chief Minister and leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) party (JD(S)). On the other hand, Ramanagara is represented by his wife, Anitha Kumaraswamy.
The JD(S) had released its first list of 93 candidates in December last year. Kumaraswamy and the JD(S) state president, C.M. Ibrahim, held a meeting on Monday to finalize the second list of candidates.
The list for 40-50 constituencies is ready and is likely to be released soon, while the third list may take four to five days, HDK said.
