Mysuru: Primary and Secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar on Friday clarified that while schools will be reopened from September 21 only students from class 9-12 will be allowed to visit schools, colleges to resolve their doubts from teachers.

The Centre has allowed states to reopen schools from September 21 as part of its Unlock 4 guidelines. However the same is not mandatory and states can take a decision on resuming of educational activities.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Kumar said “Formal classes won’t be resuming from September 21. Teachers will have to report to school but only students from class 9 to second PU can arrive at the institution to clarify their doubts from teachers. Permission of parents is a must while visiting the school.”

A Standard Operation Procedure for reopening of schools would be issued on September 19, he added.
