K’taka to hoist 1 crore tri colour under ‘Har Ghar Tiranaga’ initiative: CM Bommai

Bengaluru: At a meeting held in Hotel Shangri La on “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative of the Central government under the “Azadi Kaa Amrit Mahotsav” programme, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday directed the officials through video conferencing to hoist one crore tri colour.

In the meeting, CM Bommai said, “Under the leadership of the Chief Secretary, a high-level committee of officers including Deputy Commissioners, Karnataka Police, Department of Kannada and Culture etc, we will be working towards the success of the initiative. Steps would be taken to observe that every institution and office (irrespective government or non-government), houses would be hoisting a total of one crore tri colour flag ”.

“We will be producing around 50 lakh flags with the help of the Karnataka Khadi Gramodyog Samyukta Sangha (KKGSS) in Bengeri village of Dharwad district and self-help groups. Already an indent to manufacture 5 lakh flags has been submitted to the Centre. Indent for 45 lakh flags will also be submitted to the Centre”, he added.

The flags are expected to reach before two days of commencement of the initiative.

Meanwhile, addressing the gathering through video conference, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed all the state governments not only to strive towards the success of the initiative but also to see that around 20 crore flags be hoisted throughout the country from August 13 to August 15.
