Bengaluru: In an order issued by Transport Commissioner N Shivakumar, taxi operators including taxi aggregators Ola and Uber have been instructed to install a fibreglass partition in all their taxis as a precautionary measure against the spread of the coronavirus.
Many corporate cab service operators in the city had already set up plastic sheets between the front and rear seats of their cabs.
Additionally, the Transport Department has also issued guidelines for the operation of taxis in the State. The seat adjacent to the driver’s is to be kept empty and only two passengers in the rear seat will be allowed. Drivers must wear masks and gloves and can carry passengers who are wearing masks. Air conditioning should be avoided.
